A step-by-step guide to a typical puppy course

Pick a day and time for the first session to suit you using the online calendar and receive a confirmation via your email (click on the headings for more details).

Bringing a new puppy home is pretty nerve wracking. This first session, either just before or just after you collect your puppy, helps you to get through the first few days and nights. Often we will talk everything from sleeping to socialisation, and toilet training. I’ll give you some simple guides to help you along and be on hand to answer your questions.

A week or two later we meet again to see how all is going. This session is designed to address any challenges and to help your puppy become a full member of your family. We may even start to teach a few skills.

By the time we meet for the third time we will probably be looking for ways to manage puppy nipping, zoomies and settling alone. In this longer session, we will also explore how a puppy learns and how we can best teach them. We may start to teach more advanced skills such as recall and lead walking. Notes and a detailed training plan will support this session in the same way a stand-alone one to one training course does.

Normally held when your puppy is 6-8 months old. Putting it into Practise is my favourite session of all the training I do; getting your puppy off-lead and recalling in the real world for the first time. I have had first time swimmers in this session too! By now, you should have all the knowledge to be confident puppy guardians* and all the tools to continue training and learning into the future.

I’m here to help with telephone/email support for 3 months after the start of the course.

Once you have completed the Puppy course you can add additional sessions as and if you need them. These additional sessions can be at your home or out in the field, putting into practise the training and learning from the main course. For others, these sessions can be used to provide extra support and guidance throughout training. Additional sessions start from £34 per hour.
