Practical behaviour sessions
Support and guidance to help you achieve lasting, positive change with your dog.
Modify Challenging Behaviour, step by step.
Practical Behaviour Sessions are the second stage of Behaviour Therapy. They are booked separately after your Behaviour Consultation and are designed to help you put the recommendations into practice.
These sessions are tailored to you and your dog, and may include bespoke training plans, practical exercises, handling guidance, environmental set-ups and ongoing adjustments as your dog progresses.
Throughout these sessions, we’ll focus on:
- Get Started: Begin the behaviour modification journey by learning how to train effectively with your dog. In the initial session(s), we will focus on securing your dog’s foundational skills while also building confidence and resilience.
- Make Progress: We will regularly review your dog’s progress to ensure that the techniques and strategies are yielding effective results. If necessary, adjustments will be made to keep your dog progressing in the right direction.
- Training Plans: Each block of Behaviour Sessions includes bespoke training plans designed to guide you through behaviour modification exercises. These plans allow you to practice at home between our sessions, reinforcing progress.
- Tackling New Challenges: These sessions offer the opportunity to address emerging issues in real time, with expert advice and support to guide you through each situation.
- Ongoing Guidance: Behaviour change requires time and consistency. With every follow-up session, you will receive personalised advice and strategies to maintain and build on the progress you’ve made. This continuous support ensures you and your dog stay on track towards a stronger, healthier relationship.
Practical Behaviour Sessions start from £40 per hour and are booked separately after your Behaviour Consultation.

FAQ Practical Behaviour Sessions
Will my dog's behaviour be fixed after one session?
It might, but the realist answer is usually no. No reputable trainer or behaviourist would claim to solve problems in a single session. Proper behaviour modification takes time and work; it needs a behaviourist who knows what they are doing and an owner who is prepared to put some work in. However, the rewards last a lifetime. More precious than just the results, the right approach to training will make the relationship between you and your dog stronger than ever.
How much work will I need to do?
Training a dog requires a consistent effort over a period of time. How much and how long completely depends on where you are starting and the outcomes you want to achieve.
Training your dog is much like training your body; if you buy new trainers and join the gym, but then never go it is certain that you won’t improve your physique. If you go to the gym occasionally and do something, there may be some improvement. However, if you follow a structured plan, written for you by someone who knows what they are doing, who understands your goals, (and your starting point), and you are consistent, you will see progress, every time!
Can I book extra Sessions with you?
Yes, you can book as many or as few sessions as you need. More complex behaviour challenges may need more work; however, how many sessions we do together is entirely based on the level of support you would like.
